The First Banner Ad: A User Survey

Near the end of the project, we, along with AT&T, realized that there wasn't really a lot known about who used the internet at that time. They certainly didn't know much about who might be clicking on their banners. So, we decided to ask users a few questions...Notice that the very first question is honestly asking users what they would like AT&T do actually do on the internet.

We'd like to find out more about what you'd like to see on the Internet from AT&T. We'll start by giving you the opportunity to tell us your thoughts. Then, we'll tell you what we think might be interesting.

Article Searches
One of the benefits of surfing the Net is that you can find virtually any information you want. Still, surfing can be time consuming--especially on busy days. Would it be helpful if we collected articles from magazines and newspapers that could help you work smarter? That way you could download them to your hard drive.

Hate it Love it!

-------------

WWW Guide
Same issue as above: lots of information on the WWW, not enough time to find it. Would it be helpful if we developed a hot list of inventions, computing, telecommunications, innovative products and services, etc. that you could access from our home page?

Hate it Love it!

AT&T University
During the past 100 years we've become business and communications wizards. At AT&T U, you'll have an opportunity to take advantage of our learning. Enter our virtual campus and you'll be able to: take courses on over 200 topics from telemarketing to advanced network management; visit the computer lab and learn from our experts; gossip in the cafeteria or student lounge; read or contribute to the campus paper; participate in intramural athletics; meet the love of your life in the pub; do research in the library; start a virtual food fight; etc.

-------------

Test Your Ability To Surf
We'll ask you 50 difficult-to-answer questions about AT&T. You'll surf the WWW looking for the answers. Be the first to e-mail those answers to AT&T and win our undying respect, admiration, and probably some trashy trinket that our marketing guys think up.

Test Your Ability To Surf For Bucks
Similar to the previous question, only with a little motivation. If we draw your name from a list of the first 1,000 to respond correctly, you'll win a substantial (Big $$$) prize. (We haven't even shown the marketing guys this one yet.)

Home Office Forum
A virtual heaven for SOHO-ites. Trade profit-fattening or tax-dodging (er, reducing) tips. Gossip at a "virtual water cooler." Learn about the best deals in travel from your peers who live on the road. In short, use the WWW to dominate your world from a Laz-E-Boy.

Need to send a business memo or a love letter to someone on the WWW who doesn't speak your language? Send us your communication. We'll translate it for you, and forward it to the location you desire.

Visit With People Who Are Shaping Our World
Did you know there are many AT&T scientists who have won Nobel Prizes? Would you like to visit the home pages of some of our geniuses of today, to see what wonders they're working on--or have them available for your questions?

Hate it Love it!

-------------

Visit With Someone Who You Think Will Shape Our World
If there's someone else who you feel will have a big impact on our world, and you'd like an opportunity to talk with them, write their name in the space below. If we get enough requests for the same person(s), maybe we can find a way to make them available to you. After all, we are a communications company.

Free Technology Samples
Want to try out some of our inventions that have yet to be introduced to the world? (No, not a rotary phone, the cool stuff. Really!)

Hate it Love it!

-------------

Virtually Visit our Network Operations Center
Take a tour of our NOC, and check out the constantly changing network traffic conditions. Watch a call travel around the world. In the unlikely event of a fiber cable cut by an overzealous groundhog, watch the network heal itself.
